The society was formed under the original name of the Southern Skiffle Society three years ago, in an attempt to bring to the attention of the musically appreciative public the influence that Skiffle has had on the British pop scene since the 50's. Since then we have successfully organised many gigs at The 100 Club in London as well as many others in the southern counties.
The Society assisted in the production of "Skiffle - The Roots of British Rock" at the Royal Albert Hall in December 1998 and are currently planning the promotion of further concerts in and around the British Isles and in Europe.
We issue a magazine
six times a year with articles contributed by both artists and Society
members.
Included in the magazine is our "Skiffle Seller" where
the opportunity is given to our members to purchase new material at reduced
prices and also to exchange or buy from each other.
