Access conditions: The central function of the University of Sheffield Library is to serve the information needs of the University's own staff and students, but access is also provided to those outside the University who have a genuine need to use material and services not available in other local libraries. The University of Sheffield is a member of the RIDING Consortium - which provides reciprocal access for researchers in Yorkshire, Humberside and the North East - and also participates in both the CURL (Consortium of University Research Libraries) Access Policy and the SCONUL (Standing Conference of National and University Libraries) Vacation Access Scheme.
