Title: University College London: Latin American History Collection
Description: UCL Library's Latin American History collection was established in 1948 and considerably expanded from the 1960s with the aid of external financial assistance. In the 1970s its scope was enlarged to include the non-Hispanic Caribbean, and existing holdings on this subject were transferred to form part of the collection. It now comprises over 15,000 items, of which about 9,000 are on the open shelves, forming a separate subject collection arranged according to a schedule in the UCL Library classification scheme. About 500 items relate to the history of the English-speaking Caribbean, with some emphasis on economic and social aspects of the subject. The bulk of the material has been acquired during the past 25 years.
