Title: St Andrews University Library
Description: In general there are approximately 200 monographs relevant to the study of the Caribbean region covering the following subject areas, topics and themes: anthropology, Caribbean literature, cultural studies, environmental sciences, history, politics and sociology. In addition there are monographs on the history, geography, politics and economy of individual countries in the Caribbean, including over 150 titles on Cuba and 90 on Jamaica. Approximately 120 monographs provide information on the history of Black and Asian people in Britain. Many of these are contemporary analyses dating from c.1965-1985 and cover the following subjects, topics and themes: cultural studies; community studies; literature, politics; racism, anti-racism and race relations in Britain; religious studies; social history.
The Main Library's Special Collections also contain over 30 items on slavery, anti-slavery and the abolition movement. Examples include the following resources (mainly letters and speeches), listed by title, personal/corporate author, and classmark:
