Lancaster University Library
-
- Title: Lancaster University Library
- Description: Lancaster University Library opened in 1967. It has over one million items and currently subscribes to nearly 3000 journals. Our collection development objective is to acquire, manage and preserve collections of material, printed, electronic and audio-visual, appropriate to the support of the teaching, learning and research of the University.
The varied and inter-disciplinary nature of the work carried out at the university means that items of relevance to the study of the Caribbean and to Black and Asian history in Britain are dispersed throughout the Library. The classification system used at Lancaster is the BLISS system and books are arranged on the shelves according to their main subject. The Library Catalogue offers a keyword search option, which brings materials together. Most of the materials focused on Caribbean Studies are to be found within the disciplines of History, Literature (including French) and Language. Most of the materials dealing with Asian and Black history in Britain are to be found within Sociology and Education. In total, approximately 1100 books and 6 periodicals cover the CASBAH subject areas.
