- Description: De Montfort University provides a multitude of courses from Further Education to PhD level in areas including the sciences, engineering, computing and design, health, education, agriculture, business, law, sport, humanities and the arts. Alongside teaching, research is carried out in De Montfort's seven academic faculties (Applied Sciences, Art and Design, Business and Law, Computing, Sciences and Engineering, Education and Sports Science, Health and Community Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences) and its additional research centres: the Science and Engineering Research Centre (SERC) and the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development.
The Kimberlin library is one of 5 libraries supporting the teaching and research at De Montfort University. Located at the Leicester City campus the library collection comprises books, newspapers, periodicals, abstracts and indexes, theses, audio-visual material (including videos and slide collections) and topic boxes. Materials of relevance to Caribbean studies and the history of Black and Asian people in Britain may be found throughout the library's holdings. Printed stock includes a strong collection on ethnic history, especially post-war immigration in the UK. In addition to this, relevant material concerning the Caribbean and the history of Black and Asian people in Britain can be found in the sections on media, art and design, education, law and politics. Key topics and themes covered in these sections include: Cultural studies, Economic and social history, Migration, Politics and government and Race relations The library has a small number of relevant periodicals (such as the journals Ethnic and Racial Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, 'Race & Class, Race, Ethnicity and Education, South Asian Studies and Wasafiri: Caribbean, African, Asian and Associated Literatures in English) but no primary or archive material. All printed materials are arranged using the Dewey Decimal Classification and the slide collection is arranged by Universal Decimal Classification.
