- Description: The collection was started in 1998, and is contained in a specific section of the Archive. Suitable for a wide spectrum of interest and ability levels, the material focuses on the history and politics of Black people. It is split into several sections including a small amount of material on the Caribbean (approximately 15 books), with a much more substantial amount on the UK, and also material on the US, Africa, Asia and Australasia. The UK material comprises approximately 140 books and approximately 10 periodicals – some such as Race Today are closed, others such as Carf and Race and Class are still active. In addition there are approximately 50 videos, numerous paper cuttings, leaflets, pamphlets and sound recordings.
