These 3 volumes record his voyages to and from Dominica in 1788 and 1790 and his life and work as a medical practitioner on the island and as acting surgeon to the army ordnance at Fort Shirley. They give a graphic picture of life on the island, including detailed observations of the health of slaves on plantations, illustrated with sketches. The journals are located at Shelfmarks MS 2070, MS2900 and MS 3027 within the library's Historic Collections.
