Title: Institute of Latin American Studies Library: Periodicals Collection
Description: This collection comprises general journals, newsletters and weekly magazines on Latin America and the Caribbean published anywhere in the world but predominantly in the UK, USA, Latin America and Europe. There is also a collection of (mainly British) press cuttings from 1930 onwards, with the majority dating from 1980; arranged by country and date. Many of the titles in the collection are acquired by purchase, donation and exchange. In particular, some of the non-current news sources were donated by the former Contemporary Archive on Latin America (CALA) in 1981, and further supplemented by significant later gifts from individuals and organisations such as Amnesty International, Latin American Newsletters and the Latin America Bureau.
Strengths:
Size: c.50 titles on and from the Caribbean, out of a total collection of c.260 current titles and over 1500 non-current titles.
