CONTENT AND STRUCTURE AREA
Scope and content: Files from the Home Office RDI series which came into existence in 1967. The subjects covered form the remit of the I Division within the Home Office; they deal with policy issues in the field of race relations generally as distinct from the more specific roles of the Commission for Racial Equality and the Immigration and Nationality Department.

These subjects include legislation in the field of race relations, community relations liaison, race relations research and statistics, ethnic monitoring, repatriation scheme under section 29 of the Immigration Act 1971, liaison with the Commission for Racial Equality and grants under section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966.
